Governor Kulongoski Fights to Pass Measures 49 and 50
Gov. Ted Kulongoski took heat during his first term for shying away from ballot measures that he said he supported.
Not this time. Kulongoski, unencumbered by re-election worries, has planted himself front and center in the campaigns to pass two measures on the Nov. 6 ballot. Measure 49 would retighten state land-use laws; Measure 50 would raise cigarette taxes to boost health coverage for children.
